AN OLD SETTLER GONE

Former Resident of Union Township Dies at Home of Son in Idaho

Word had just been received from Clark C. Gillis by Mrs. J. P. Steele, that his father, E. P. Gillis, died at the home of his son, Wallace Gillis on Nov. 15th, in Filmer, Idaho.

Mr. Gillis and family came here from Knox county, Illinois, about 40 years ago. They lived on the farm now owned by Mrs. Criss, until about 15 years ago, when they sold and went west.

Mr. Gillis was a more than ordinarily intelligent man-well read in history and thoroughly conversant with current events of the day. He was an obliging, kind and thoughtful neighbor. He was remarkable for his loyal fidelity to the interests and welfare of his friends.

Mrs. Gillis died in their home in Union township a number of years ago.

The remains of Mr. Gillis have been place in the mausoleum at Twin Falls, Idaho, ultimately to be buried in the cemetery at Rio, Ill., the family home of the Gillis people.

Mr. Gillis left three children; Wallace of Filmer, Idaho; Clark, C. of Oakland, Calif., and Mary Gillis Sackett of Casper, Wyo.
