PERU RESIDENT DIES AT 92 YEARS

Mrs. Rhoda J. Gifford Was Life-Long Resident Of This County

Mrs. Rhoda Jane Gifford, a life-long resident of the Peru community, died last Thursday, Feb. 13, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. She was 92 years of age.

Mrs. Gifford was the former Rhoda Jane Weaver, daughter of Willialm and Jane Porter Weaver. she was born near Peru Dec. 15, 1871, and spent her entire life in or near that community.

She was married Sept. 1, 1888 to Charles Gifford. His death occurred in 1955.

She was a member of the Peru Methodist church.

Mrs. Gifford was the mother of four children, three of whom died in infancy. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Agnes Armstrong of Des Moines; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Dragoo of Red Oak. She also leaves one grandchild, three great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Kale Funeral home in Truro, in charge of the Rev. James Nicholson. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
