DALE E. GIFFORD IS ELECTROCUTED

Native of Peru in Fatal Accident Sunday at Cumming

Dale E. Gifford, 28, of Cumming, was electrocuted Sunday afternoon at Cumming when the lifting device on a truck he was operating came in contact with a high tension electric line. He was demonstrating the lifting equipment when the fatal accident occurred.

Mr. Gifford was a native of the Peru community, where he was born and spent his early life. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Gifford. For the last 10 years he had lived at Cumming, where he was associated with his father and brothers in the trucking and hauling business.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Shirley Gifford; two daughters, Kathy, aged 5 years; and Julia Ann, aged 6 months; two sons, William Lee, aged 6 years and Edward Dale, aged 2 years; a sister, Sadie M. Gifford of Glenwood; three brothers, Capt. James Gifford, who is stationed in Germany with the U.S. army and William and Donald Gifford of Cumming; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James F. Gifford of Cumming.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Hamilton Funeral home in Des Moines, with burial in Glendale cemetery there.
