Zora Gibbons, Winterset

Services for Zora Gibbons, 85, Winterset, who died July 31 at the Bethesda Care Center, were held Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Epperson officiating. Burial was at the Barney Cemetery.

Born in Sidney, Ark., on Dec. 22, 1900, she was the daughter of William and Lydia Springer Johnson. On April 23, 1925, she married Truman Gibbons at Plainview, Texas.

She had lived in Madison County since 1925 and was a member of the Friendly Circle Club of Barney, taught school in Texas before marriage and attended the Christian Church in Barney until it closed. She then attended the Madison Chapel.

Survivors include sons, Wayne Albert Gibbons of Martensdale and Robert William Gibbons of Murray; a daughter, Velma Lenor Jenkins of Boone; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a sister.
