Winterset Madisonian - May 25, 1966

Mrs. Josie B. Flood, a resident of Winterset the last 25 years, died Monday, May 23, at Memorial hospital. She was 89 years of age.

Mrs. Flood was the mother of the late Granville Flood, a well-known Winterset business man.

She was a native of Gaylord, Kan., where she was born Feb. 28, 1877. She was the former Josie Hulse, daughter of Ezra and Amanda Hulse. She was married to William P. Flood, who preceded her in death. For many years she operated a hotel in Valley, Nebr., before coming to Winterset 25 years ago.

She was a member of the Christian church.

Three sons and a daughter also preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, Woody and Jack Flood, both of Valley, Nebr.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. William E. Bowles, pastor of the First Christian church. Burial will be made in Evergreen cemetery at Red Oak, with graveside services there at 3 p.m.
