Winterset Madisonian - March 7, 1956

Frank Cummins, a life-long resident of Madison county, died Friday, March 2, at his home in Winterset, after an extended illness. He was 70 years of age.

Mr. Cummins was born in Lincoln township on Oct. 20, 1885, a son of Tom and Elizabeth Cummins. On March 12, 1912, he was married to Ruth Vera Stulz of Winterset. They settled on a farm in Scott township, two miles north of Peru, where they lived for 23 years. In 1939 they moved to Winterset, and since that time this community has been their home.

He was a member of the Winterset Methodist church, having joined the Peru Methodist church early in life, and later transferring here.

Surviving are his wife; a son, George Cummins of Garner; two daughters, Mrs. Russell Comp of Winterset and Doris of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Charles and E. W. Cummins, both of Winterset; and a sister, Mrs. Dean Glenn of Winterset. One sister, Mrs. Frank Clark, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. W. W. Steinmetz, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
