Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, March 11, from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset for Mrs. Almeda German, age 91.
Mrs. German died March 7 at Madison Manor Nursing Home here. She was the last survivor of a family of 10 children.
A daughter of Elizabeth Trusler and Benjamin Van Atta, she was born Feb. 17, 1877 at Williamsburg, Iowa. As a small girl she traveled with her family to Kansas, and then back to Iowa in a covered wagon.
Most of her adult life was spent in Madison county. On Feb. 2, 1898 she was married to Sylvester German at Osceola, Iowa. He preceded her in death in August of 1948.
Mrs. German was member of the Christian church.
She is survived by two children, Mabel, Mrs. Ted Anderson of St. Charles, and Harold German of Des Moines; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three children, Ethel Alice, Ethel Irene, and Clarence Otho German.
Officiating at the funeral Monday afternoon was the Rev. Wm. E. Bowles, pastor of the First Christian church in Winterset. Burial was in Hopeville cemetery at Hopeville, Iowa.
