WILLIAM R. "BILL' WHITE, Macksburg

Services for William R. "Bill" White, 74, Macksburg, who died Dec. 15, 1988, at Greater Community Hospital in Creston, were held Monday, Dec. 19, at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg with the Rev. Charlie Morrow officiating. Burial was at the Moon Cemetery.

Born Jan. 13, 1914 at Bondurant, he was the son of Robert and Alice Trunnell White. He was married Sept. 14, 1935 at Newton to Lillian Normandin, whom he met while attending Colfax High School. As a young man, he worked in several towns before setling down in Macksburg where he lived for 40 years. For 20 years, he worked for the Madison County maintenance department and drove the "star" mail route between Macksburg and Winterset. He retired in 1977.

He was a member of the Macksburg United Methodist Church, and the Evening Star Lodge No. 43, A.F. and A.M. of Winterset.

Survivors include sons, Larry of Blue Springs, Mo., and David Lee of Newton; daughters, Lois (Mrs. James) Still of Madrid and Cynthia (Mrs. Harold) Selim of Shannon City; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Bell of Westminister, Calif., Flossie Rexroat of Pocatello, Ida., and LaRita Andis of Sacramento, Calif.; a brother, Jessie White of Urbandale; and his mother who is living in Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his father.
