Charlotte B. Gering, Winterset

Charlotte B. Gering, 89, of Winterset died of heart failure Oct. 7, 2000 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, Oct. 11) at 2 p.m. at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home in Des Moines. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Des Moines.

Charlotte Gering was born Sept. 17, 1911 to Joseph and Bertha Keul of Des Moines. She married Joseph F. Gering on Sept. 21, 1929. Charlotte had been a resident of Winterset since 1976.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, a son and two sisters.

She is survived by three daughters, JoAnn Slater (husband Steven) of Winterset, Virginia Foster (husband Dick) of Des Moines and Judy Bellizzi (husband Nick) of Bellevue, Neb.; two sons, Joe Gering (wife Judy) of Des Moines and Rick Gering (wife Marcia) of Ankeny; three sisters, Marie Hubbard and Alberta Whitlow of Fort Myers, Fla., and Martha McLaughlin of Pekin, Ill.; two brothers, Joe Keul of Des Moines and Albert Keul of Carlisle; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
