Services for Vernie L. Corsbie, 68, Lorimor, who died Nov. 3 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center, were held Thursday, Nov. 5, at the United Methodist Church in Lorimor with the Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial was at the Lorimor Cemetery.

Born July 29, 1919, he was the son of Walker and Marie Webb Corsbie. Mr. Corsbie grew up in Madison County and after high school was drafted into the service during World War II. He operated the Standard Service Station in Lorimor and was recalled to the service during the Korean War. Later, he operated Corsbie Auto in Lorimor and farmed.

He was affiliated with the Methodist Church in Lorimor, was a member of the Lorimor volunteer fire department for 34 years and was a fire chief for over 10 years. He was a member of the Lorimor American Legion.

On June 19, 1943, he was married to Lorene Saxton at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. She survives along with a son, John and wife Barb of Eagan, Minn.; daughters, Caren McNaught and husband Ray of Afton, and Linda Corsbie of Lorimor; six grandchildren; a brother, Rex Corsbie of Roland; and a half-sister, Mrs. Henry Hall of Skamania, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Ronald.
