T. J. Campbell, member of a family long well known in this community, died at his home in Winterset last Friday at the age of 84 years.

Thomas Jackson Campbell was born near Staunton, in Augusta county, Virginia, on Dec. 17, 1861, the son of Silas and Catherine Ritchie Campbell. When he was 17 years of age he came to Iowa with his parents.

For many years he was engaged in farming in Scott township, also devoting part of his time to his trade of masonry.

He was married Dec. 25, 1885, to Roselba Kirk. They were the parents of three daughters, two of whom died in infancy. For the last six years he and his wife had lived in Winterset.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Maude Vierling of Scott township; four grandsons; and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in charge of the Rev. W. R. Watkins, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ, and the Rev. L. F. Davis. Burial was made in the Union Chapel cemetery.
