Harold Cade, 73, of DeSoto died July 18, at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, of cancer.

He was born Nov. 24, 1914 in Madison County. His parents were Fred V. and Eliza Backes Cade.

He was married to Frances Morrill Aug. 1, 1935. Harold was baptized and a confirmed member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Van Meter, all his life. He was an over-the-road truck driver for 38 years. Harold served on the DeSoto City Council, also was a Charter member of the DeSoto Lions Club and served in several offices.

He is survived by his wife, Frances and two sons, LeRoy and wife Donna of Rogers, Arkansas, and David of Richardson, Texas; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edna Waltz of Sun City West, Arizona and Gladys and husband Robert Jensen of Winterset; sister-in-law Clella Cade of Winterset, and brother-in-law Rex Wiegand of Sun City West, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lois and brother Charles.

Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Van Meter, on Thursday, July 21, at 2:00 p.m.

Visitation will be at Fisher Funeral Home, Van Meter, Wednesday evening, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
