MARTIN M. GAVIN DIES AT 70 YEARS

Death Last Thursday in Des Moines Follows Heart Attack

Martin M. Gavin, a resident of Madison county most of his life, died Thursday, May 5 in Des Moines, following a heart attack. He was 70 years of age.

Mr. Gavin was born in Crawford township, north of Patterson, and spent his early life there. He later farmed near Bevington for many years and assisted in the Bussanmas Funeral service there. Later he was employed by the Easter grocery at St. Charles. For the last five years he had worked at the Caldwell-O'Brien Funeral home in Des Moines.

His wife preceded him in death many years ago. He is survived by two daughters, Alice and Agnes; a son, Albert Gavin; a sister, Mrs. Mary Kelly; and two brothers, John and Frank Gavin.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Catholic church at Churchville, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Dennis Curtain, assisted by Monsignor Lyons of St. Ambrose Cathedral in Des Moines. Burial was made in Calvary cemetery at Churchville.
