ALPHA WHITE, Des Moines

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oc. 20, 1981, for Alpha Eldon White, who died of cancer at Des Moines General Hospital on Oct. 17. He was 69 years old.

Born in Dallas County on July 13, 1912, he was the son of William and Blanche Speer White.

He attended rural schools and Earlham grade school. He also attended Wodrow Wilson Junior High in Des Moines. At age 16 he began work as a clerk in a neighborhood drug store in Des Moines. Later he went to Des Moines wholesale Drug Co. where he was a shipping clerk for 27 years.

On Sept. 8, 1934 he married Vera Olson. One son, William Henry II was born to them on April 8, 1935.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister. Survivors include his wife, Vera; son, William; two sisters, May Lowe and Gladys Garrett, both of Winterset; three grandchildren; a grandson-in-law; and one great-grandchild.

Burial was at Sunset Gardens in Des Moines.
