Verla Adell Cahill, 90, of Farmington, died June 11, 2006, after a brief illness.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 13, at the Farmington United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Rekward officiating. Burial was at Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington.
Verla Cahill was born Aug. 26, 1915, to Enos and Anna (Graham) Brown. She was three weeks old when her mother died. Verla was then raised by her grandparents, George and Lucinda Graham. Following graduation from Farmington High School in 1933, Verla taught rural school for three years. In 1936, she married William “Bill” Cahill. They owned and operated a cafe, gas station and ice house in Farmington. Verla also was a waitress for many years at the Bridge Cafe and an active member of the Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Eddie Brown.
She is survived by three sons, Gary Cahill of Farmington, Terry Cahill of Springfield, Ohio, and Ed Cahill of Boulder, Colo.; three daughters, Anna Hope Tuttle of Iowa City, Betty Muntz of Tecumseh, Mich., and Cynthia Nitchals of Winterset; and 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington.
