Rose Catherine “Kate” Cooper, 92, of Winterset died June 16, 2006, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 19, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Burial was at Lorimor Cemetery.
Kate Cooper was born June 3, 1914, in Sratford to Lewis E. and Edith Margurite (Green) Orwan and was a graduate of Dayton High School. On Sept. 11, 1937, she married Armond Marvin “Sam” Cooper in Des Moines. Kate and her husband resided on the Cooper family farm in rural Lorimor until moving to Winterset in 1998. A lifelong homemaker, she was a member of the Lorimor United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women’s Society, and Study Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and a brother.
She is survived by one daughter, Connie Clark of Afton; two sons, William “Bill” Cooper of Newton and Dean Cooper of Pleasant Hill; a sister, Jean Silverthorn of Earlham; a brother, Frank Orwan of Cherokee Village, Ark.; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the United Methodist Church in Lorimor.
