MARY D. GROUT, Winterset

Services for Mary D. Grout, 88, rural Winterset, who died Dec. 30, 1983, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center, Des Moines, were held Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 3, at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Jake Garbison and the Rev. Greg Sharp officiating Burial was at the Clark Cemetery.

Born in Madison County Aug. 18, 1895, she was the daughter of John and Nellie Callison Seiler.

She spent most of her life in the Winterset area and was a member of the New Hope Christian Union Church in the Ord community, and was on the women's council of the church.

On Feb. 1, 1917, she was married to Charles H. Grout in Madison County. Survivors include sons, Claude and Loren, both of Winterset; daughters, Doris Schirm of Salt Lake City, Utah, Ruby Estell of Denver, and Marjorie Mount of Flint, Mich.; a brother, Clifford Seiler of Winterset; 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother and two sisters.
