MARTHA J. MOORE DIED LAST FRIDAY

Had Been Resident of This County Since Pioneer Days

Mrs. Martha J. Moore, a resident of Madison county since pioneer days, died last Friday at the Peterson Nursing home in Winterset. She was 87 years of age, and had been confined to her bed for the past two years.

Mrs. Moore was a native of Page county, where she was born May 3, 1858, the daughter of David and Sarah Cowden. As an infant she came with her parents to Madison county. With the exception of a year in New Mexico, the remainder of her life was spent here.

She was married here in 1879, to Houston L. Moore. their married life was spent in farming in various localities of this county. Mr. Moore died in 1939.

Mrs. Moore is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Alto Wurster of Pueblo, Colo.; a son, Milo Moore of Winterset; one sister, Mrs. C. W. Henderson of Colony, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Ramsey-Richards Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Reed Kessler of Stuart. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
