Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. this Thursday, January 17 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset for Harold Mayer, a prominent Winterset farmer.
Mr. Mayer died at his home this Monday morning January 14. He was 75 years of age.
Burial will be at the Winterset Cemetery.

Page 4Harold D. Mayer, a prominent Jackson Township farmer, died at his home last Monday morning, January 14. He was 75 years of age.
Mr. Mayer was born June 8, 1898 near Hebron in Adair County, the son of Emil and Lyda Ross Mayer. He was married to Leone Black on August 3, 1925 in Des Moines.
Mr. Mayer had lived and farmed in Madison County for 53 years. He was a former member of the Madison County Sportsmen's Club and served as a director of the Jackson No. 7 school for several years.
He was affiliated with the Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Leone; and one son, John, both of Winterset. Three grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Nellie Shaw of Elgin, Arizona, also survive, as well as two aunts and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 17, at the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, with the Rev. Lon Reising presiding.
Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.
