Former Madison County Resident Dies at Leon

Mrs. Nettie E. Garmon, a former resident of Madison county died July 22 at the Decatur county hospital in Leon, after a long illness. She was 79 years of age and had lived 42 years in Decatur county.

Mrs. Garmon was the former Nettie Ellen Lee, daughter of Marion and Eleanor Lee. She was born in Madison county Sept. 30, 1870. In 1888 she was married to Hyder Schoonover. They were the parents of six children, one daughter dying in childhood. The husband and father died in 1927.

She was married to James C. Campbell in 1934. He died in 1942. Her third husband, W. B. Garmon whom she married in 1934, survives her.

She leaves four daughters, Mrs. Virginia Dale of Pleasanton, Mrs. Susie West of Garden Grove, Mrs. Grace Lovell of Des Moines and Mrs. Rosa Bartlett of Portland, Oregon; a son, David Schoonover of Davis City; 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She also leaves two brothers, Judd and Jess Lee of California.

Funeral services were held July 25 in Leon in charge of Evangelist W. J. Campbell of the Davis City church of Christ. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
