JOHN R. LAWLESS DIES ON SUNDAY

Veteran of World War I Lived Here for Last 28 Years

John R. Lawless, a resident of Madison county the last 28 years, died Sunday at the Veterans' hospital in Des Moines. He was 57 years of age.

Mr. Lawless was born in Shelby county on July 25, 1892, a son of John D. and Malinda Fleming Lawless. His early life was spent in Shelby and Cass counties. He was a veteran of the first World War and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post at St. Charles.

For the last 28 years he had made his home with his sister, Mrs. Otto Marxen of near Winterset.

In addition to Mrs. Marxen, he leaves two other sisters, Mrs. Arthur Rogers of Omaha and Mrs. Ray Headlee of Avoca; three brothers, William Lawless of Unadella, Nebr., Leonard Lawless of Macksburg and Albert Lawless of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in charge of the Rev. Boyd Zoeller. Burial was made in the Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
