Had Been Madison County Resident for 83 Years
Mrs. John L. Gamble of Winterset died this Tuesday, Sept. 19, at her home in Winterset. She was 85 years of age.
Mrs. Gamble had lived 83 years of her life in Madison County. She was the former Ruth Ann Young, daughter of William and Lucinda Snyder Young, and was born in Warren county on June 13, 1876.
She was married to John L. Gamble on Sept. 7, 1897. They were parents of six children, one daughter preceding her in death.
Mrs. Gamble was a member of the Winterset Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband; three sons, Russell and Harold Gamble of Carlisle and Cleo Gamble of Des Moines; two daughters, Mrs. George Jackson and Mrs. Sam Lathrum, both of Winterset. She also leaves 34 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held this Friday at 2 p.m. from the Winterset Methodist church. Burial will be made in the Wight cemetery.
