Services for Russell O. Gamble, 86, who died July 17 of a congestive heart ailment at home, were held Friday, July 20 at the Richardson Funeral Home in Carlisle. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Born in Madison county, Mr. Gamble lived in Carlisle since 1936. He was a retired sales representative for a hardware business and ran a glass and screen repair business from his home for the past 15 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Carlisle Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Vera; daughters, Beverly Rawson and Shirley Steel, both of Carlisle; sons, Carroll and H. D. both of Des Moines, Jerry of Urbandale, and Clair and Bill, both of Colorado; a sister, Mrs. George (Ruth) Jackson of Winterset; 25 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gamble, a sister and two brothers.
