Wednesday, September 9, 1970Mrs. Nettie M. Purvis, a life-long resident of Madison county, died Sunday, Sept. 6, at the E-Z Rest nursing home in St. Charles. She was 88 years of age.
Mrs. Purvis was a daughter of Cyrus and Laura Howe Mease, and was born in this county June 30, 1882. Her life was spent at Truro, until entering the nursing home three years ago.
She was married June 27, 1900, to Arthur Purvis at Peru. His death occurred in 1968.
She was a member of the United Methodist church of Truro, and a member of Ivy chapter, Order of Eastern Star at Truro. She was a charter member of the Woman's Society for Christian Service.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Alma Spera of Winterset; four nephews and two nieces.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday from the United Methodist church in Truro, with the Rev. Richard Hempenius officiating. Burial was to be made in Ebenezer cemetery at Peru.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 9 for Nettie Minerva Purvis, 88, who died at the E-Z Rest Nursing Home in St. Charles, Iowa, Sunday, September 6. The Rev. Richard Hempenius conducted the 1:30 p.m. services held in the Methodist Church at Truro. Interment was in Ebenezer Cemetery, Peru, Iowa.
Nettie Minerva Purvis was born June 30, 1882, the daughter of Cyrus and Laura Howe Mease in Madison County, Iowa. She received her education in Madison County schools and was married in Peru, Iowa June 27, 1900 to Arthur Purvis. Most of her life was spent in Truro except for the past three years where she resided in the E-Z Rest Nursing Home in St. Charles, Iowa. She was a Past Matron, member of the O.E.S. and a charter member of W.S.C.S. She was affiliated with the Methodist Church of Truro.
Surviving relatives include one sister, Mrs. Alma Spera and husband, Ray of Winterset; a niece, Mrs. Lois Welch and husband, John of Winterset; niece, Thelma Colvin of San Diego, California; four nephews, Willard Mease and Jack Mease of Winterset; Willis Mease of Reihlads, North Carolina and Richard Mease of Kirksville, Missouri.
Preceding her in death were her parents, and husband, Arthur, who died in May of 1968 and three brothers, Wilbur, Grover and Martin.
