JOHN DeBOK Died Here Saturday

John DeBok, a resident of Madison county for 41 years, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 1952, at the Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 88 years of age.

Mr. DeBok was a native of Marion county, where he was born Oct. 26, 1863, a son of Dingeman and Hannah DeBok. He was married to Maggie Postma, Feb. 1, 1886, at Knoxville. They were the parents of 10 children. He was also the father of two children by a second marriage.

He came to Madison County in 1911, and farmed near Patterson and Winterset until recent years.

He is survived by the following children: Dee DeBok of Lorimor, William DeBok of Patterson, Alfred and Howard DeBok of Winterset, Gail DeBok of Santa Rosa, Calif., Mrs. Gertrude Harrell of Winterset, Mrs. Elsie Criss of Valejo, Calif., Mrs. Edith Young of Chico, Calif., Mrs. Ruby Briggs of Durham, Calif., and Mrs. Lela Gibson and Mrs. Shirley Hamilton of Des Moines. He also leaves 26 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren and two brothers, C. A. DeBok of Chariton and Henry DeBok of Newton.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Richards Funeral home in charge of the Rev. Glenn Parrot, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
