William Riley, a farmer well known in the Patterson community for many years, died Sunday Jan. 27, 1952, at his home in Winterset. He was 86 years of age.
Mr. Riley was born in Oshkosh, Wisc., on April 15, 1865. The early part of his life was spent in Des Moines, where he was married on Nov. 15, 1885, to Etta Ogburn. They were the parents of four children, but their twin daughters died in infancy.
They had retired from active farming a year ago and moved to Winterset.
Mr. Riley is survived by his wife; two sons, Otto Riley of Patterson, and Earl Riley of Grand Junction, Colo.; a granddaughter; a brother; and a sister.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Richards Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Glenn Parrott, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Montpelier Cemetery at Patterson.
