Edward Andrew Anderson was born in Madison County, December 9, 1882, and passed away, September 4, 1972 in the Dexter hospital.
He was the only son of Charles and Christine Anderson, and was baptized in the Swedish Lutheran church in Des Moines as an infant.
Ed grew up on the farm southwest of Earlham and attended the Old Stone Schoolhouse in Jackson Township. One of his enduring memories from his early years on the farm was pumping water by hand for all of the livestock.
After the passing of his father in 1915 he moved to Earlham with his mother and cared for her during the remaining five years of her life.
In 1922 he was united in marriage to Ferne Henry and they had one son, Paul Edward Anderson.
Ed engaged in the fuel business in Earlham and the service station and tourist court business in Stuart. He briefly returned to the farm south of Earlham as a gentleman farmer before retiring first to Des Moines and later back to Stuart. He was a member of the IOOF for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his four half-brothers; Swan, August, John and David Bloomquist.
Surviving him are his wife Ferne, son Paul and daughter-in-law Virginia, grandson Paul Edward and his wife Jean, twin great grandsons Clinton Edward and Derek Paul, and a brother-in-law, Harlan Henry. In addition he held dear his many Bloomquist nieces and nephews/
Last rites were held in Evans funeral Home in Earlham on Wednesday, September 6, with Rev. Ward Young of the United Methodist church officiating. Burial was in the Earlham cemetery.
