W. RUSSELL WICKS, Iowa City

W. Russell Wicks, 76, of Iowa City, formerly of Winterset, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 18, 1983, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services were held Thursday, Jan. 20 at the First Prebyterian Church in Iowa City. The body was donated to the University of Iowa Department of Anatomy. Contributions may be made to the University of Iowa Foundation in Iowa City.

Mr. Wicks was born March 14, 1906 in Madison County, the son of Charles and Reta Litton Wicks. He was married to Irene Young on Dec. 28, 1933 in Winterset.

For many years he was the president and owner of Wicks Oil Co. in Iowa City. He was a 1929 graduate of Iowa State University; and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and the Iowa City Rotary Club.

Survivors include his wife, of Iowa City, two sons, John of Rochester, Minn., and Robert of San Francisco; three grandchildren; and a brother, Ralph of Okoboji.
