Wednesday, December 12, 1973Funeral services for Wayne Butcher, a long-time farmer in the Zion community, will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Hill of Zion church.
Mr. Butcher died this Monday, Dec. 10, at the Creston hospital. He was 67 years of age.
He had retired from farming, but was an employee of the Orient Sale barn.
Mr. Butcher is survived by his wife, Nellie; his mother, Mrs. Hazel Butcher of Macksburg; two sons, Landis Butcher of Des Moines and Lavelle Butcher of Glenwood, Iowa; three daughters, Lois Allen of Logan, Iowa; LaVonne Alexander of Des Moines, and Lila Smith of Des Moines; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Also surviving are five brothers, Vernon of Davis City, Iowa, Fred of Little Sioux, Iowa, Raymond of New Mexico, Frank of Indianola, and Bill of Orient; and three sisters, Betty Kiddoo of Winterset, Norma Garrett of Creston, and Donna Pettit of Florida.
Officiating at the funeral this Thursday will be the Rev. Russell Hart of the Hill of Zion Church. Burial will be in the Zion cemetery.
