ETHEL WHITED, Creston

Ethel Whited, 86, of Creston died Jan. 9, 2004, in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the First Christian Church in Creston.

Ethel Whited was born July 23, 1917, in Mt. Ayr to Arlonzo R. and Edna A. (Oliver) Cole. On March 3, 1938, she married Cecil Whited. She resided in Creston where she worked as a clerk of JC Penney for 25 years. Ethel was a member of the First Christian Church in Creston and also was a volunteer at Greater Community Hospital and Crest Haven Care Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Meyer and Shirley Whited, both of Winterset; a son, Gary Whited of Seymour, Tenn.; a brother, George Cole of Seligman, Mo.; a sister, Helen Knight of Ridgecrest, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Powers Funeral Home in Creston.
