Hazel A. Whitehill, 103, formerly of Clarinda, died of heart failure Sept. 14, 2000, at Integrated Health Services in Winterset.
Graveside services were held Monday, Sept. 18, at Clarinda Cemetery. A prayer service was held Sunday, Sept. 17, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
Hazel Whitehill was born May 5, 1897, to Ira and Winnifred (Ingram) Long of rural Clarinda. She was a 1914 graduate of Clarinda High School. Hazel was a rural school teacher in Page County from 1914 to 1923. She was married to Thomas Allen Whitehill.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter.
She is survived by a son, Virgil Whitehill (wife Evelyn) of Council Bluffs; a son-in-law, Bobby Vawter of Winterset; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
