Clarence C. DeVault, youngest son of Charles H. and Minerva J. DeVault, was born at Ely, Iowa on December 7, 1888 and passed away at Pasadena, California on August 6, 1969 at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 29 days.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Orange J. and Albert J. DeVault; also two sisters, Martha (Mrs. Ray Smith) and Olive (Mrs. Frank Wilson).
He moved with the family to a farm in Madison county in 1891. He attended school at the Earlham Academy and graduated with the class of 1908. He was united in marriage to Mary M. La Pella Februrary 12, 1914. She also preceded him in death, passing away on October 13, 1968. They resided in and near Earlham for 22 years before moving to California in 1936. He was a long-time member of the Earlham Chapter of the Masonic Order.
Surviving him are two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Moore of Hinsdale, Illinois, and Mrs. Betty Jean Lambert of San Bernardino, California; and one son, Kenneth C. DeVault of Pasadena, California; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Stump Mortuary, Pasadena, California with Rev. Mortimer C. Dean of St. James Methodist church officiating. Interment was at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, California.
