Charles Foster, Winterset

Charles Vernon Foster, 69, of Winterset, died of a heart attack Sunday March 16, 1997, at his home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 19, 1997 at the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. The Rev. John Shaull will officiate the service and burial will be in the Montpelier Cemetery in Patterson.

He was born April 14, 1927, the son of Duward Andrew and Violet May (Anderson) Foster. He married Luise Schmutterer on July 14, 1947, in Langquaid, Germany. He was in the United States Army, serving in World War II and Korea. He was a resident of Madison county for 26 years. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #8142 and First Baptist Church in Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Surviving relatives include his wife of Winterset; two sons, Richard Foster of Norwalk, and Charles Foster, Jr. of Grimes; two daughters, Virginia Deaton of Des Moines and Tenne Houseman of Winterset; four grandchildren; one brother, Bill Foster of Des Moines; and two sisters, Jennie Dougherty of Frankston, Texas, and Violet Gephart of Centerville.
