ST. CHARLES WOMAN DIES AT AGE OF 79

ST. CHARLES-Mrs. Bertha Katherina Fleck died here Friday, May 1, at the home of her sister, Mrs. Anna Wyatt. She was 79 years of age.

Mrs. Fleck was the former Bertha Katherina Attig, daughter of John Peter and Catherine Attig. She was born in Johnson county Dec. 3, 1873. She came to Madison county with her parents in the early nineties.

On Feb. 27, 1896, she was married to John A. Fleck. Their active years were spent in farming. After retirement, they lived in St. Charles. Mr.Fleck preceded her in death.

As a child, she became a member of the Lutheran church, later joining the Church of Christ at St. Charles.

She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Lena Clark of Baxter, Mrs. Lillian Stoneman of New Virginia, and Mrs. Wyatt of St. Charles; and a brother, Fred G. Attig of Murphysboro, Ill.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the St. Charles Church of Christ, with the Rev. Joe King officiating, assisted by the Rev. Eldon Haworth. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
