Betty Jean Fleming, 70, of Des Moines and Winterset, died of a heart attack May 19, 2002 at her Des Moines residence.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23, at Grace Baptist Church in Winterset. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date.
Betty Fleming was born March 10, 1932, in Monroe Township, Madison County to David and Kathryn Faux. She had resided in Winterset all her life. For the past three years, she had maintained residences in both Des Moines and Winterset. Betty had worked for Union State Bank in Winterset as a custodian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother and three sisters.
She is survived by a daughter, Debbie Ellis of West Des Moines; three sons, Dave Fleming of Knoxville, Dan Fleming of Elkader and Don Fleming of Gold Canyon, Ariz.; six brothers, Leonard Rehard and Lester Parker, both of Milo, Chuck Cooper of New Virginia, Bryce Cooper of Yuma, Ariz., and Bill Cooper and Dave Cooper, both of Dallas, Iowa; five sisters, JoeAnn Breese of Knoxville, Rose Gudger of Brooksville, Fla., Verna Self of Murray, Jackie Freeman of Melcher and Dianna Graham of Pleasantville; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Diabetes Foundation or the American Heart Association.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Caldwell-Raddatz Funeral Home and Crematory of Urbandale.
