Maxine Fitzgerald, Woodburn

Maxine Fitzgerald, 88, of Woodburn died of congestive heart failure May 10, 2002, at her home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 14, at Kale Funeral home in Osceola with Pastor Marty Burgus officiating. Burial was at Field Cemetery in Clarke County.

Maxine Fitzgerald was born April 13, 1914, to George Blane and Zula (McCoy) Fulmer of Lacona. She attended grade school in Des Moines and high school in St. Charles. She married Arthur Fitzgerald on Aug. 14, 1934 in Albany, Mo. Maxine became a licensed practical nurse in 1966 and worked in Winterset, Osceola and Chariton before retiring. Her memberships have included Polk County L.P.N.A., L.P.M.A.I., W.S.C.S (president) and Union Methodist Church in Clarke County. She also had taught Sunday school and had been a church pianist and leader of a youth group. She had spent most of her life in Clarke County-the Truro community and the Woodburn community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter-in-law and a grandchild.

She is survived by three sons, Herbert Dean Fitzgerald and Larry Jay Fitzgerald (wife Sharon) both of Truro, and Richard Lee Fitzgerald of Woodburn; a stepsister, Vera Sheldon of Truro; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
