John Fitzgerald Service Thursday

Funeral services were held last Thursday from the Kale Funeral home in Truro for John R. Fitzgerald of Truro whose death occurred Dec. 11 at Memorial hospital in Winterset.

Mr. Fitzgerald was 89 years of age. He was a resident of Madison county most of his life. He was born at New Market, in Taylor county, on Aug. 9, 1883, a son of James M. and Zelpha Savage Fitzgerald. He was married at Genoa, Nebr., on April 8, 1908, to Anna M. Hume. Her death occurred in 1969.

His active life was spent in farming. He was a member of the Christian church.

He leaves three sons, Orville Fitzgerald and Floyd Fitzgerald of Truro and Leon Fitzgerald of Winterset; two daughters, Mrs. Ben Schaffer of St. Charles and Mrs. Walter Barber of West Des Moines; 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Velma Brooks of Springfield, Mo., and a brother, Ed Fitzgerald of Tucson, Ariz.

The Rev. Richard Hempenius of Truro conducted the funeral services. Burial was made in the Hartman cemetery.
