1960CHARLES FITZGERALD DIED WEDNESDAY
Charles T. Fitzgerald, a resident of the Truro community for many years, died at his home in Washington township, Clarke county on Wednesday, May 4. He was 80 years of age.
He was born at New Market on Nov. 13, 1879, a son of James and Zilphia Savage Fitzgerald. He had lived in Clarke county, near Truro, for 59 years.
He was married here on Aug. 29, 1900, to Fannie B. Rickets, who survives him. He also leaves three children, Elmer Fitzgerald of Des Moines, Mrs. Nora Pressley of Truro and Arthur Fitzgerald of Truro. He also leaves four grandchildren; six brothers and sisters, Mrs. Bessie Fulmer, Mrs. Mamie Chase, Mrs. Velma Brooks and John, Edward and Fred Fitzgerald.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Congregational Christian church at Truro, conducted by the Revs. Ray Harness of Chariton and Dale Lockart of Truro. Burial was made in the Field cemetery in Clarke county.

Page 6, Columns 2 & 3Charles Thomas, eldest son of James Martin and Zilphia E. Fitzgerald, was born near New Market, Iowa, on November 13, 1879 and passed away at his home near Truro, Iowa, on May 4, 1960 at the age of 80 years, 5 months and 21 days.
In 1885, the family moved to Nebraska by covered wagon where they remained for a period of eleven years. In 1896, they came to Madison county, settling near Barney, Iowa.
In his middle teens, he was baptized in the Christian Faith and remained a faithful Christian.
On August 29, 1900 he was united in marriage to Fannie B. Rickets, also of Madison county. Immediately afterward they moved to a farm in Clarke county. Two years later they purchased their present home where they have lived continuously for 57 years.
To this union four children were born: two daughters and two sons. One daughter, Grace, preceded him in death at the age of five years.
He is survived by his wife, Fannie, one daughter, Mrs. Nora Pressly of Truro, and two sons, Elmer of Des Moines and Arthur of Truro, two daughters-in-law, one son-in-law and four grandsons, Marvin Pressly of Des Moines, and Herbert, Larry and Richard Fitzgerald of Truro; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Fulmer of Truro, Mrs. Mamie Chase of Seaford, Delaware, and Mrs. Velma Brooks of Springfield, Mo.; three brothers, John of Peru, Edd of Earlham and Fred of Winterset, a large number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Edith, Beadie and Vietta.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Harness of Chariton and Rev. Dale Lockhart of Truro, at the Congregational Christian church in Truro, on Sunday, May 8, 1960. Interment was made in the Field cemetery in Clarke county.
