William Francis Boyd, 78, of Des Moines died June 8, 2006, at his home.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 11, at the Earlham Friends Church with the Rev. Linda Burnett officiating. Burial was at Booneville Cemetery with military rites performed by American Legion Post 419 of Dexter.
Bill Boyd was born Dec. 8, 1927, in Cainsville, Mo., to Alfred and Lula Mae (Craig) Boyd. On Dec. 16, 1952, he married Betty Wheeldon in Mount Ayr. Bill was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean conflict.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a granddaughter, Shannon Lynn Boyd.
He is survived by three sons, Rod Boyd and Mike Boyd, both of Des Moines, and Rocky Boyd of Stuart; two daughters, Debbie Cave of Dexter and Patti Boyd of Des Moines; a sister, Marie West of Portland, Ore.; and 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
