EVELYN FITZGERALD, Malvern

Evelyn Eileen Fitzgerald, 80, of Malvern and longtime Truro area resident, died June 10, 2006.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 13, at the Truro Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Carol Iammatteo-Code. Burial was at Hartman Cemetery in rural Truro.

Evelyn Fitzgerald was born July 22, 1925, to Leo and Mae (Shutt) Myers of St. Charles and received her education in the Truro schools. On May 12, 1941, she was united in marriage to Orville LeRoy Fitzgerald in Trenton, Mo. Evelyn was employed as a seamstress for Snowdons Manufacturing in Osceola for 15 years. She then worked for the Truro grocery store before retiring. She was a member of the Truro Congregational United Church of Christ, Jolly Fu Club and Red Hat Club. She had resided in Malvern for the past eight years.

She is survived by one son, Ron Fitzgerald of Las Vegas, Nev.; one daughter, Sharon Chickering of Malvern; a sister, Laura Goodrich of Osceola; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Odyssey Hospice in Omaha, Neb.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Homes of Osceola and Truro.

Evelyn E. Fitzgerald

Evelyn Eileen Fitzgerald, the daughter of Leo and Mae Shutt Myers, was born July 22, 1925, at St. Charles. She died June 10, 2006, at her daughter’s home in Malvern. She was 80.

She received her education in the Truro schools and married LeRoy Fitzgerald on May 12, 1941, in Trenton, Mo. The couple became the parents of two children, Ron and Sharon.

She was a member of the Truro Congregation United Church of Christ, the Jolly Fu and the Red Hat Club. She was employed as a seamstress for Snowdon Manufacturing in Osceola for 15 years. She worked for the Truro Grocery Store before retiring.

Mrs. Fitzgerald moved to Malvern eight years ago to be closer to her daughter. She really enjoyed the Red Hat Club in Malvern, crocheting and especially the company of her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a son Ron Fitzgerald and wife Sherry of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter Sharon Chickering of Malvern; grandchildren, Todd Chickering and wife Ann of Malvern, Carrie Deel and husband Christopher of Castle Rock, Colo., Rory Fitzgerald and Hope Ekpo of Lawrence, Kan., and Clayton Chickering of Council Bluffs; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Kinley Chickering of Malvern and Colby and Carter Deel of Castle Rock, Colo.; a sister Laura Goodrich and husband Ross of Osceola; sister-in-law, Lillie Myers of Osceola; nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Fitzgerald were held June 13 at the Truro Congregational United Church of Christ in Truro, The Rev. Carol Immatteo-Code officiating. Organist was Doris Johnson and vocalist was Larry Smith. Musical selection was The Old Rugged Cross.

Casket bearers were Todd Chickering, Clayton Chickering, Rory Fitzgerald and Christopher Deel. Interment was in the Hartman Cemetery in Madison County.

Memorial contributions may be made to Odyssey Hospice in Omaha, Neb.

Kale Funeral Homes of Osceola and Truro were in charge of the arrangements.
