Robert E. Fitch, Arizona

Robert Eldon Fitch, 70, of Yuma, Ariz., died of cancer Sept. 15, 1999 at his residence.

Funeral services were held Monday Sept. 20, at Calvary Baptist Church in St. Charles with Pastor Doug Helton officiating. Burial was at St. Charles Cemetery.

Robert Fitch was born Aug. 6, 1929, to Harold Eldon and Helen E. (Nagle) Fitch of Ankeny. He was united in marriage to Betty White and two children were born to this union, Dona and Tom. He then married Alice Pitts on Aug. 26, 1950, and five boys were born to this union. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict and served with the United States Marines. Robert was a farmer and tire worker for Firestone Rubber in Des Moines. He lived in the Truro community from 1965-90. His wife, Alice Pitts, died in 1994. He later met and was united in marriage to Alice Andren Person, and they became residents of Arizona. He was a member of the Escapees R.V. Club and American Legion Post 19 in Yuma. He also attended the Community Covenant Baptist Church in Yuma.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice Pitts; a son and a grandson.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Andren (Person) Fitch of Yuma; five sons, Rod Fitch of Des Moines, Ron Fitch (wife Patricia) of La Center, Wash., Rick Fitch (wife Diane) and Pete Fitch (wife Carla), both of St. Charles, and Tom Fitch (wife Debbie) of Forest Grove, Ore.; a daughter, Dona McReynolds (husband John) of Troutdale, Ore.; two stepsons, Robert Person (wife Dale) of Bentonville, Ark., and Chris Person (wife Sandra) of Riverside, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Sandra Moritz (husband Jeff) of Diamond Bar, Calif.; one brother, Norman Fitch (wife Phyllis) of Coos Bay, Ore.; one sister, Marvel Roudebush (husband George) of Des Moines; 22 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice. Funeral arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Home in Truro.

ROBERT ELDON FITCH

Robert Eldon Fitch, son of Harold Eldon and Helen E. Nagel Fitch was born Aug. 6, 1929, at Ankeny and die Sept. 15, 1999, at his home in Yuma, Ariz. He was 70.

He married Betty White and they became the parents of two children, Dona and Tom. He then married Alice Pitts on Aug. 26, 1950 and they became the parents of five boys.

Mr. Fitch was a veteran of the Korean War and serviced with the United States Marines.

He was a farmer and tire worker for Firestone Rubber in Des Moines. He and Mrs. Fitch lived in Truro from 1965-1990, when they started full time R. V. traveling.

She died in 1994. Sometime later he met and married Alice Andren Person and they became residents of Arizona.

Mr. Fitch was a member of the Escapees R. V. Club, American Legion Post No. 19 and attended the Community Covenant Baptist Church in Yuma.

He liked woodworking and a favorite pastime was traveling in his R. V.

Mr. Fitch was preceded in death by his parents; his second wife, Alice; a son, Randy and a grandson, Johnny.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Fitch of Yuma; five sons, Rod Fitch of Des Moines, Ron Fitch and his wife, Patricia Fitch, of LaCenter, Wash., Rick Fitch and his wife, Diane Fitch, Pete Fitch and his wife, Carla Fitch, all of St. Charles, Tom Fitch and his wife, Debbie Fitch, of Forest Grove, Ore.; a daughter, Dona McReynolds and her husband, John McReynolds, of Troutdale, Ore.; three stepchildren, Robert Person and his wife, Dale Person, of Bentonville, Ark, Chris Person and his wife Sandra Person, of Riverside, Calif., and Sandra Moritz and her husband, Jeff Moritz, of Diamond Bay, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Norman Fitch and his wife, Phyllis Fitch, of Coos Bay, Ore.; a sister, Marvel Roudebush and her husband, George Roudebush, of Des Moines; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Sept. 20 at the Calvary Bible Church in St. Charles, Pastor Doug Helton officiating. Laurie McKinney, organist accompanied Terry Smith as he sang Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art.

Casket bearers were Tony Stephenson, Dennis Beeler, Jake Keubler, Brandon Fitch, Ryan Fitch and Brian Fitch. Honorary bearers were Kenny Fitch, Bobby Joe Fitch and Jordan Fitch. Interment was in the St. Charles Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Kale Funeral Homes of Osceola and Truro.
