Services Thursday For Willard Field

Funeral services at Collins Funeral Home will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, for Willard R. (Deac) Field who died June 7 at his Council Bluffs home. He was 63 years old.

Born May 22, 1918 in Winterset, he was the son of Ansel Field and Nellie Hart.

He was a veteran, serving in the army during World War II.

He was married to Marcella B. Bowyer, who survives him.

In 1980 he retired after working as a truck driver for Interstate Systems, Inc. for 30 years.

He was a member of Teamsters Union Local No. 554 and was known as "Interstate Cannonball" by C.B. radio operators.

He was preceded in death by his father, three sons and a brother.

Survivors include his wife; mother, Nellie Field of Winterset; two step-sons, Larry D. Gibson of Glenwood and Mark D. Gibson Field of Council Bluffs; a brother, D. E. (Wm) Field of St. Joseph, Missouri; and four sisters, Mrs. Madelyn Wald of Chicago, Mrs. Sara Hewitt of San Francisco, Mrs. Wilma Baker of Des Moines, and Mrs. Virgie Allen of Winterset.

A VFW graveside services will be held at Winterset Cemetery.
