ANCIL FIELD OF WINTERSET DIES

Life-Long Resident of This Community Was 73 Years of Age

Ancil L. Field, a well known Winterset resident, died Saturday, June 8, at Memorial hospital here. He was 73 years of age.

Mr. Field was a life-long resident of Madison county. He was born here Sept. 8, 1889, a son of Richard and Emma Walters Field. He was married April 2, 1916, to Nellie I. Hart, who survives him.

He was preceded in death by a son, Almon L. Field, in 1958. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Willard R. Field of Council Bluffs and William D. E. Field of Cedar Rapids; four daughters, Mrs. Madelyn E. Carnes of Chicago, Mrs. Sara C. Hewitt of San Francisco, Mrs. Wilma M. Baker of Des Moines, and Mrs. Virgie Allen of Winterset; 13 grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Marie Burd of Phoenix, Ariz.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Wilson Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Glynn Ensor, pastor of the First Baptist church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
