Bob Fickes, Des Moines

Bob Fickes, 77, of Des Moines, died June 10, 2003 at Mercy Capitol in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 16, at Hamilton's Funeral Home in Des Moines.

Bob Fickes was born May 15, 1926 in Des Moines to Clyde and Mona (Price) Fickes. He received his education at Lincoln High School in Des Moines. On March 24, 1957, he and his wife, Irene, were married in Kansas City, Mo. Bob was owner/operator of Fickes Home Center in St. Charles. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 315 in St. Charles, Teamsters Local 90 in Des Moines, American Legion Post 716 in St. Marys (50 years) and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite in Des Moines. He also was a United State Air Force veteran, serving during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, June and Winifred.

He is survived by his wife, Irene; three sons, Clyde Fickes, John Fickes and Bob Fickes; three daughters, Mona Fickes, Marda Fickes and Norma Jean Sandvol; a brother, Clyde; 28 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
