Byron Faux, rural St. Charles

Byron Faux of rural St. Charles died Tuesday, Aug. 18 at Des Moines General Hospital. He was 82.

Born Dec. 28, 1898 in Madison County, he was the son of Thomas John and Fannie Bishop Faux. He married Helen Cooper on Dec. 27, 1926 in Des Moines.

A lifetime resident of Madison County, he was engaged in farming until his retirement in 1978. Mr. Faux was a past member of I.O.O.F. and a member of the Patterson United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife Helen; five sons, Russell of Winterest, Byron Jr. of Iowa Park, Texas, Wallace of Oakland, Calif., Alvin of Bridgewater and Donald of Patterson; two daughters, Fannie Benge of Winterset and Rose Marie Benedict of Redfield; one brother Elmer of Patterson; 31 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Darrell Wayne, seven brothers and three sisters.

Services were held Friday, Aug. 21, at Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Grotewold officiating. Burial was made at the McGinnis Cemetery at Patterson.
