Claude Wesley Faust, the only child of James G. Faust and Lesta Armstrong Faust was born Aug. 17, 1912 in Warren County. He died at Hillhaven Convalescent Center in West Des Moines on Feb. 24, after a few months illness.

Claude, known to many as Wes, attended most of his school days in St. Charles, from where he graduated in 1930. He attended the University of Iowa for 1-1/2 years. He served in the United States Army in the Continental United States and Panama Canal Zone from March 19, 1942 until Nov. 6, 1945 when he was honorably discharged. Claude was employed by the United States Postal Service for 23 years. He retired June 30, 1972. As a young man he united with the Methodist Church in St. Charles. He was member of Model Lodge #325 A.F. & A.M. in St. Charles and was a life member of V.F.W. Post #9127 in Des Moines. He was also a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.His father died Jan. 30, 1919 and his mother on Oct. 16, 1925. He made his home with his Grandmother Faust and his Grandmother and Grandfather Armstrong until he was inducted into military service during World War II.

He is survived by his uncle; Jesse Armstrong of Indianola and an aunt Leta Armstrong of Osceola.

Funeral services were held Feb. 27, at the Kale Funeral home in Truro, with internment in the St. Charles cemetery. Pastor Jim Patrick of Indianola officiated.
