FUNERAL MONDAY FOR MRS. FARWELL

Former Resident Dies At Age Of 72 Years

Mrs. Flora Fern Farwell, a long-time resident of Madison county, died July 6 at Des Moines. She was 72 years of age.

She was born Feb. 1, 1895 in Adair county, the daughter of Levi and Margaret Ann Shanklin Fay. She lived most of her life in this county, moving to Des Moines 18 years age.

She was previously married James Porter, and seven children were born to this union. On Dec. 24, 1939 she was married to William Farwell at Albany, Missouri.

Surviving are her husband; a son, James Porter of Winterset; three daughters, Ruth Lucas of San Bernadino, Calif., Dorothy Allen of Wasco, Calif., and Joy Croat of Kearney, Missouri; two step-sons, Gary Farwell of Bangor, Maine and Richard Farwell of Las Vegas, Nev.; one sister, Mrs. Goldie Harris of Greenfield; 18 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ethel and two sons, John and Cecil Porter.

Funeral services for Mrs. Farwell were held Monday afternoon, July 10, from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset. The Rev. Wm. E. Bowles officiated. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Des Moines.
