Katherine M. Wynkoop, 81, of Calvin Community died of a blood ailment Tuesday (Nov. 12) at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson, of which she was a member. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Winterset Cemetery in Winterset.

Mrs. Wynkoop was born in Bloomington, Ill., and had lived in Earlham 20 years and in Jefferson 38 years before moving to Des Moines in 2000. She was a retired deputy clerk of court for Greene County in Jefferson.

She is survived by a son, Ron of Waterville, Minn.; a daughter, Gayle Newlin of Des Moines; a brother, Jim McComb of Pittsford, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Avory.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson, where the family will be present from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to her church.
