Carol Hannah Thomas, 102, of Earlham died of respiratory failure Dec. 4, 2002, at her home.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Earlham Friends Church with the Rev. Linda Burnett officiating. Burial was at Earlham Cemetery.

Carol Thomas was born June 24, 1900, to John and Edith (Cook) Hoskins of rural Wright. Her family moved to the Waukee area when she was an infant. She attended the Pleasant Plain School in Walnut Township, Dallas County, graduating from Waukee High School in 1920. On April 3, 1923, she married Wayne Thomas at the Earlham Friends parsonage. Carol was a member of the Earlham Friends Church and the Earlham Friends Church Women's Group.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and four brothers, George Hoskins, Delbert Hoskins, Wilbur Hoskins and Russell Hoskins.

She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Huglin of Dayton; a son, Niol Thomas of Earlham; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Kuhn Funeral Homes of Dexter and Earlham.
