He was 68 years of age, and had been in poor health, since he suffered a stroke of paralysis, six years ago. On July 18, 1928, another stroke left him unable to walk or talk, and he has been confined to his home, since that time. Three weeks ago, he became ill with pneumonia, and that and complications caused his death.

When sixteen years of age, he came to Dallas county, and for many years, was employed on the farm of Irvin Murray, where he made his home. On December 24, 1891 he was married to Corgie W. Black. Six years later they moved to Winterset, where they have since made their home.
